21 week bumpdate.
Happy Monday, friends! Another bumpdate here for you – but first, how was all of y’alls weekend?!
For once, G and I had a pretty laid back weekend – mostly because I’ve been sick and we were forced to. But, these past few days have taught me two valuable things: how to say no and that it’s not just me I’m taking care of anymore. Before I was pregnant, I would have never gone to the doctor at the first sign of a fever. I would never consider leaving work early on a Friday or possibly take the day off on a Monday because of a (albeit nasty) cold.
But, I left work at lunch and went straight to the doctor on Friday. Also, I’m already planning on giving in and calling in sick tomorrow. My main priority is this little one in my belly and growing him as big and strong and healthy as I can in these next 16 weeks. Y’all – becoming a Mom is pretty cool 🙂
the bump.
Bump Analysis: I told G the other day that “this baby is getting heavy” haha! My tummy is starting to feel like it needs to be held up – so it may be time for a belly support.
Month/Trimester: 5.25 months [21 weeks] / 2nd trimester
Food of the week: He’s the size of a carrot lengthwise!
Development: He weighs about 10.5 ounces and measures around 11-12.5 inches from head to heel. Arms and legs are in proportion and neurons are connected between the brain and muscles, which means he’s much more in control of his movements.
Movement: I’ve been feeling him a TON lately! Apparently he’s not a fan of sharp loud noises, though, because we went to a movie on Saturday night and he was frantically kicking me through most of the movie haha!
Name: Keeping it to ourselves, but I’ll give his initials: FSF 🙂
Weight Gain: 11 pounds.
Symptoms: skin issues.. boooo.
Cravings: Fruits and chocolate (still)
Aversions: Scrambled eggs
Sleep: I got up in the middle of the night the other night to grab a pillow from the guest room to put between my legs. So, I finally ordered a body pillow the other day lol.
Maternity Clothes: Bought a couple of tops this week to go with my maternity jeans because I’m literally running out of options lol!
Exercise: I’m going to count all the yard work and chores that G and I have been doing as exercise lol (same answer as last week).
Wedding Rings: On!
Stretch Marks: None that I’ve seen.
Preparations for Baby: Ordered a couple of books on parenting and babies, scheduled a baby class and our hospital tour!
Labor Signs: Nope!
What I miss: Wine, queso and turkey sandwiches… still!
Looking forward to: I’m actually really looking forward to the baby class we have scheduled and for the hospital tour. I think they’ll both help to make it all feel more real!
items we’ve received off our registry and why i picked them.
So, I wanted to give a little more than just a bumpdate this week. We’ve started to receive a couple of things from our registry from sweet family and friends and I’d like to share exactly what they are and why I chose to register for them!
bassinet: Moses Basket and Rocking Stand.
Ever since I saw this set for the first time shortly after I found out I was pregnant, I fell in love. At first, I heard that a bassinet like this would be impractical. However, the more I began to map out exactly what would work best for our family, the more I realized it really wasn’t. I’d heard from several people that setting up a Pack ‘n Play in your room would be better because of its versatility. But there were so many factors that led me to prefer this over that. For one, we don’t have room for something that size in our room. We’d already transitioned our office into the master so that we could convert the office into the nursery. Plus, we have the dogs and their beds in there with us too. The moses basket is the perfect size for our situation.
car seat: Nuna Pipa Car Seat and Base.
We actually were going to go with a Britax brand car seat. However, after hearing a review from my close friend that hers was heavy and inconvenient we settled on the Nuna brand. This car seat is light and you should feel the padding. It’s like memory foam 🙂 We are so pleased with the quality and functionality of this one!
stroller: Nuna Mixx 2 Stroller.
I knew I wanted to be able to pop our car seat in and out of a stroller and, since we’d heard such good things about Nuna, going with the same brand for his stroller just made sense! The entire system converts so easily and the stroller is light, easy to push and full of convenient features. It even comes with a clear poncho to fit over the entire thing if you get stuck in the rain and a magnetic closure bag to keep accessories close by in a snap. I also just love the way it looks. Plus, the ride is so smooth and quiet!
pack ‘n play: Graco Pack ‘N Play.
A Pack ‘N Play seemed completely necessary for weekends we go out of town, especially. This can function as his crib or nap area while we’re away and will also come in handy when we’re not. I plan to keep it downstairs in a corner off to the side. I especially loved this one because it comes with a changing table (left) and a detachable bassinet/rocker (right). You can take it off the Pack ‘N Play and set it on the floor. One side is a bassinet and it flips over to a shallow seat with a seatbelt. That way he can rock and hang out while i’m downstairs cooking 🙂
Also, with the bassinet/rocker out of the main structure, the mattress that it comes with can either be raised for baby’s sleep time or lowered for when he’s bigger and needs an area where he can play! It truly has everything all-in-one and I’m really excited to have it 🙂
Well, that’s it for now! Thanks for stopping by for a bumpdate and I hope my registry reviews help any of you expecting mamas or friends or family members looking to purchase gifts!
