the past month.
Month three has definitely been a fun one. Fischer is becoming a little bit more independent, growing like a weed and is sleeping through the night! With each passing day his sweet little personality comes out more and more and it’s so fun to watch him grow into an actual little person. He hardly ever fails to return a smile with a smile and is starting to become much more interested in toys and his surroundings. We’re also learning what works and what doesn’t in terms of keeping him happy. A few key tidbits include: not waiting until he shows signs of sleepiness to put him down for a nap; going for at least one walk a day and keeping him cool. The last one was a recent discovery and it sort of changed my life lol! I started to realize that he was getting sweaty and cranky at times so I began just letting him hang out in a short sleeve onesie without pants and he gets much less flustered. Plus, I think he enjoys being able to feel things against his skin! Thank goodness Spring came when it did.

highlights:
Sleeping through the night.
We began putting Fischer down in his crib to sleep at night at month two, but it wasn’t until the past few weeks that he began sleeping through the night. I want to dedicate a whole post to our process with this so I won’t go into too many details now. However, let’s just say that this was definitely at the top of our highlights list!
First Easter and church service.
This next one was a close second in terms of favorites this past month. Not only was it fun to see Fischer with his adorable Easter basket, but it was the first time since before he was born that we’d been to church. It’s always a little iffy when it comes to his demeanor during outings, but he did so well! He seemed to love the worship music during the first 15 mins, slept on me during the sermon and began to voice his want to leave right at closing prayers – which is what I expected! I tell you what, it had me emotional as I was standing, holding him during worship at the beginning of church. While I was pregnant, it never failed that he loved to kick and move during that part of service. The first time I ever felt him was during worship at church. So, as I stood there holding him against my belly facing forward and swaying back and forth to the music, it took me back to that special time and I found my eyes welling up with tears. The fact that we were there celebrating what Jesus did on the cross made the day so special in so many ways.
First mom-only errand morning.
Before little man arrived on the scene, I could never fully appreciate what moms meant when they would talk about how refreshing it was to be able to run errands by themselves. A couple of Saturdays ago, though, I got the chance to experience it. I left Fischer with Daddy for two hours while I went to Target and had some me time – Starbucks in hand and boy if that wasn’t a highlight. There’s something to be said about wandering the aisles without worrying if a certain someone was going to wake up and start having a meltdown at every turn 😉
Dad’s first spit-up.
This is a little bit of a silly one, but I truly feel like it was a bit of a highlight. I spend day in and day out with our little boy, but G works hard for us during the day and coincidently misses a lot. Seeing Fisch spit up on him for the first time and the way that he reacted sort of made my day. It was almost like a right of passage and it was just something that we could laugh about together. I tell you what – it’s the little things.
what we’re loving.
