One of the things you guys ask for the most lately is baby food recipe ideas! I made a huge batch of purees today so I thought I’d swing by here and share a few new recipes.
I made the apple and peach purees that I shared in this Part 1 post. Nowadays I usually thaw a cube of these to mix in with something he doesn’t really like because they do well to mask some of the veggies he’s not super keen on! 🙂 Here’s what else I made:
banana, spinach & avocado puree:
Spinach: Simmer a whole back of baby spinach in some water to wilt it down.
Avocado: 1 whole avocado
Banana: 2 medium size bananas
Put everything in the blender and blend as smooth as possible.
After blending I’ll actually place a strainer over a bowl and work the mixture through it to make sure it’s nice and smooth.
pears and mangos:
Pears: 6 – Remove the peels and cut up in chunks
Mangos: 2- Remove the peel and cut up in chunks
Place fruit in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and let cook for 8-12 minutes depending on the size of fruit.
Strain, blend, freeze!
quinoa and veggies:
Now, Fischer hasn’t tried this blend yet so I’m not sure how it’s going to go over. If all else fails, though, I’ll mix a cube of apple or peach in with it when I serve it! 🙂
Quinoa: In order to simplify my life a little bit, I buy a bag of frozen, steamable quinoa at the grocery store – makes it super easy! Just microwave according to the packaging and you’re good to go.
Veggies: This time around I did a steam-able vegetable medley that included cauliflower, carrots and brocooli.
Blend and add water until you reach a consistency you like!
– I plan to try quinoa and sweet potatoes or quinoa and chicken next!
That’s all for now, friends! I would LOVE for you to share any of your go-to combinations and recipes in the comments below!
