**UPDATE TO THIS POST AT THE BOTTOM!**
I am IN LOVE with our new King of Christmas Tree, but I’m gonna come right out and say it: I never thought I’d have an artificial Christmas tree! Ever since G and I got married, I’ve been adamant about having a real tree despite his attempts to persuade me otherwise because that’s always what we had growing up.
However, last year I began to become a little more open to the idea and I thought I’d share with you guys the key factors that led me to finally break down this year and get one – all while showcasing this amazing Prince Flock 7 footer from King of Christmas.
Why I Decided it Was Time for an Artificial Tree.
When it came down to it, I could think of 5 reasons to go with an artificial Christmas tree this year. They are:
- The Mess. This was one of G’s main arguments against a real tree – and I get it. Real pine needles are no joke. They always made a mess of our car getting it home, in the house getting it setup, throughout the entire time it’s standing there in your house and ESPECIALLY during end-of-year cleanup. Plus there’s the hassle of figuring out what to do with the tree’s ‘skeleton’ when you’re done with it. In the past I always saw it as worth it. But, I don’t know – maybe I’m getting old – but I’m actually looking forward to not having to deal with all that this year!
- It’s More Cost Efficient. This was my husband’s most heartfelt argument against real trees lol! And rightly so I suppose. Each year we’d spend $60, $70, $80 on the real thing and, when you think about it, even if you purchase one of the more expensive models out there – overall, the money saved with an artificial tree pays for itself in, what 2 or 3 years? That’s definitely worth noting!
- The Pre-lit Option. I hate the headache of Christmas lights. The tangled cords, the bulbs that go out, the crossing-of-fingers that they’re going to actually light up when you plug them in.. and then there’s the whole getting them to look even on the tree issue. I have to tell you – it was SO nice just having to plug a cord in during the setup of this tree and that was IT. It even comes with a little floor button so you can easily turn the tree on and off with your foot! No more reaching around to plug in or unplug or worrying about finishing the lights just right so they’ll reach the outlet!
- You Can Put it Up Whenever You Want. This was HUGE for me. Last year, I remember being ready to decorate for Christmas the week before Thanksgiving and not being able to because nobody had them available yet. I hated being limited like that! Also, growing up, the rule was always that we couldn’t decorate or do anything Christmas-related until December 1st. Which was fine – that was my mom’s preference. But lately I’ve been realizing that I can make our own rules now – lol! I LOVE Christmas and the decor that comes with and, thanks to an artificial tree, I can enjoy our decor as early as I want now!
- The Flocked Look. I think it was last year that I fell head over heels for the flocked Christmas tree look. To the point where I researched and almost attempted to flock our real tree haha. I ended up abandoning the idea because the process seemed complicated and MESSY.
Our 7′ Prince Flock Artificial Tree.
Now, let’s talk about this beautiful King of Christmas Tree specifically. This model comes in a variety of different heights and can be purchased lit or unlit. It’s also one of three different flock categories: the King, Queen and Prince. As far as I can tell, they get a little more ‘full’ in appearance the higher you go in the hierarchy, but I feel like the Prince is a more affordable option that’s just as beautiful!
In setting this tree up for the first time, I discovered something I really like about an artificial tree and that’s how customizable they are! By that, I mean the branches and how you can make them look the way you want to. If you’ve had real trees, you know that what you see is what you get. But with this tree, I could make the branches bend downward to mimic the look of freshly fallen snow on a real tree, or I could point them in other directions to make certain areas look more full. Plus, once we decorate the tree with ornaments and other things, I’ll be able to move branches here or there to fill in gaps or make space for certain things. I truly love the idea of that!
If you’re looking for a green (not flock) artificial Christmas tree, they have several spruce and fir options in different sizes and shapes!
Before I wrap up, I thought I’d answer two questions I foresee some of you happening!
How Was Setup?
To give you an idea of how easy setup for this tree was, this was my first time ever putting a fake tree together and I didn’t even open the instruction manual! I put it up all by myself while G was at work – if that tells you anything. It came in three different pieces that easily fit together and the whole process was just super simple and straightforward. The tree came with a tree stand, spare bulbs and a storage bag!
Does it Shed?
Yes, but not bad! And especially compared to the shedding involved in a real tree setup – it’s MINIMAL. I have yet to see any of its ‘needles’ fall off – the shedding comes from the flocking. However, its so light and fuzzy that it’s easily cleaned up with a vacuum. I even had Fischer playing in and around the tree while I was setting it up and fluffing it, which caused it to shed even more – but it was nothing but a thing to get it cleaned up!
If you couldn’t already tell – this is definitely a RAVE review of our new King of Christmas Tree. This IS a sponsorship, but as always, I wouldn’t say it if it weren’t true! In fact, I’m so happy with it that I’m already putting it on my radar to purchase a second one next year!
UPDATE!
Since this post was written in 2019, we’ve gotten a second King of Christmas tree!
As you can see, our home has changed a bit too 😉 We updated our KoC tree last year to match my ever-changing tastes in decor and I can’t tell you how much I love this 7ft prelit King Noble Fir. It comes in several different sizes and you can purchase it with or without lights. I love its simplicity and how it goes with so many different genres of decor.
