We celebrated Fischer’s second birthday party on Saturday and it was the sweetest time. We decided on a small brunch with a few of our closest friends. It ended up being eight adults, two babies and two toddlers and I think the amount and variety of food we have was perfect for our group.
Of course, in preparation for the party, I was Pinteresting ideas and inspiration. In the end I decided to do a loose animal theme and a pretty neutral color scheme – which ended up being similar to his first birthday (something I didn’t really realize until we were setting up lol). But I’m happy with how it all turned out! I’ll give you a little run through of the setup and the recipes I used.

The Food.
Whenever I throw gatherings, it’s usually for dinner and I always set out a cheese board for an appetizer. Since we gathered for brunch this time, I decided to take that concept and twist it a little! My inspiration came from this pin – the cutest little build your own pancake board! My mother-in-law put ours together while I set everything else out. Turned out cute didn’t it?! And I love how kid-friendly this is. The little silver dollar pancakes are from Trader Joe’s and baked super quick in the oven!
The only other cooking involved in setting up for Fischer’s party was baking some bacon and making these super simple prosciutto egg cups – which turned out so good! Everything else I purchased from Costco (muffins and croissants).
Of course, brunch isn’t brunch without a mimosa, so we had that as an option next to some infused lemon/lime water at the drink station. Super simple, yet party perfect.
And finally, the cake! I made it first thing in the morning when I got up at 5am to get my morning workout in. It was all done and set on the counter by the time Fischer came downstairs and he noticed it RIGHT AWAY! It was so cute. He’s HUGE on safari animals right now so he kept pointing to it and going “mmmmm” and making his elephant noises. Made my day! To make it easy on myself, I just made it from 2 boxes of white cake and, since it was 4 layers it took about 3 cans of cream cheese frosting. It turned out SO good!
The Supplies.
I thought it might make it easier on anyone trying to plan a similar party if I made a list of the food and supplies I used for the party. So, here you go!
Balloons
I found all of the party balloons on Amazon! I made the “Fisch is 2” sign with these and his large 40-inch 2 balloon can be found here. The balloon garland was made with a combination of 12 inch and 5 inch balloons.
Food
Here’s a quick list of the food/drink:
– Orange Juice
– Prosecco (or Champagne)
– Store bought muffins
– Store bought frozen mini pancakes
– Store
– Bacon
– Prosciutto Egg Cups
– Berries: strawberries, blackberries, blueberries
– Citrus fruits for infused water
– Condiments for Pancake board (syrup, honey, yogurt)
– Cake
Animal Cake Toppers
I purchased this set of animals to use as Fischer’s cake toppers. Since it comes with a bunch of animals, we just gave him the rest of them as part of his birthday presents 🙂 He loves them!
And that’s it! If i have one piece of advice for throwing any sort of gathering like this, it’s to BUY PREMADE ITEMS! It doesn’t all have to be, but having those pancakes and muffins and things already made saved me so much time and stress! Just a little tidbit 🙂 Let me know if you have any questions about anything! Here are a few more scenes from our boy’s party.
