The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is here and I will be totally honest, I wasn’t expecting to love as many items as I do! My early access opened up to me today, so I thought I’d share a collage of my favorites and let you know what I ordered to try on at home!
You have probably heard this a thousand times, but the Nordstrom Sale is the PERFECT time to grab a few closet staples for your fall and winter wardrobe. I stocked up this year. My go-to knee-high boots are several years old and starting to look worse for the wear, so I ordered the tan Vince Camnuto boots shown in this collage as well as the pair of tan booties that I know will be my go-to’s with jeans and dresses for years to come. I also snagged a few sweaters and that white Free People turtleneck – which I ordered in a size up so that I could wear it as a dress! As I mentioned before, I was honestly surprised at how many items I was drooling over there year and was impressed at the reasonable prices for most of what I loved! Now, depending on when you have access to the sale some of these things may or may not still be available, but the Nordstrom site always does a good job of suggesting similar items so be sure to pay attention to those!
What I Ordered from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
Here’s what I personally ordered:
Mock Neck Crop Top – This top is super affordable and I think it will go so well with high waisted jeans and shorts! Will be great for layering under jackets, sweaters and even shackets.
Fitted Long Sleeve Rib Dress – I’ve seen a few fellow bloggers feature this dress and loved how it looked styled so many ways! This is another super affordable item that will look great with booties, knee-high’s, jackets, cardigans and sweaters.
Boyfriend Plaid Button-Up Shirt
Boyfriend Plaid Button-Up Shirt – I’ve been looking for a good neutral plaid button-up for years now. This one looks to be great quality at an affordable price. I love the idea of tying it around the waist of a dress or layering it over a basic top with jeans.
Rib Stitch Crop Sweater – This sweater caught my eye as it looks so cozy and effortless. I love the v-neck neckline and stitching details. The fact that it’s a ‘crop’ length will make it great for pairing with high-waisted bottoms and even over dresses!
High Waist Studio Lite Pocket 7/8 Leggings – Last year I didn’t buy anything from the Nordstrom Sale EXCEPT a pair of Zella leggings. They are a must for me. I’ve now bought them three years in a row and have zero regrets! I’ve never owned a pair of lululemon leggings, but I honestly can’t imagine they’d be much better (quality, fit or feel) than these!!
Swim Too Deep Turtleneck Sweater – This is the turtleneck sweater I sized up in so that it would be a dress! I can’t wait to visit wineries in the fall wearing this and the knee-high boots I snagged too 🙂
Frayed Corduroy Shirt Jacket – I’m finally trying the shacket trend. This one looks so comfy and easy to layer over so many things. I like that it gives the functionality of a cardigan but is a little more stylish. This color especially will go with so many different outfits!
Tan Booties – My go-to pair of booties in my closet are more than five years old and it shows lol. So I thought I’d snag these as they’re the perfect heel height and color! I also loved the squared off toe.
Tan Knee-High Boots – These boots are so beautiful and are a VERY reasonable price for the quality and versatility. I’ve always loved Vince Camuto’s shoes so I’m hoping these are every bit as beautiful and comfortable in person.
What I’ve Tried on So Far.
As of today, I’ve received several items from my order but am still missing a few so I’ll update when those come in. For now, here’s what I’ve tried on so far:
You guys, this dress is AWESOME.. especially for only $26! The material is high quality, stretchy and super comfortable. I love it paired with so many things – from sneakers or boots/booties to flannel or cardigans layered over top. I’m wearing a medium here because I didn’t want it to hug me too much.
Boyfriend Plaid Button-Up Shirt
I wasn’t expecting to love this plaid button-up shirt as much as I do, but here we are! The material is thick, soft and warm and will be the perfect layering piece this fall and winter! It looks great with dresses, shorts and pants! I’m wearing a small and would say it fits oversized but I love it that way – so don’t size down IMO!
This simple little crop top is so cute and comfortable! The material is on the thicker side so it’s nice and warm and not too see-through! It goes so well with a pair of high waisted denim and I know I’m going to be using it a lot to layer with! I’m wearing a medium here. There’s not a lot of stretch in this stop so I’d say if you’re between sizes size up.
I absolutely love this soft v-neck sweater and how it looks with high-waisted denim. It comes in a few other colors but I love this neutral and the way it will pair so well with so many different bottoms!
Tan Booties and Tan Knee-High Boots
To be honest with you, I did not love the tan booties as much as I thought I would. The toes are a little too pointy for me and I don’t think they’re as flattering on my legs as another pair of tan booties I have. However, they’re beautiful booties, high quality and comfortable! I ordered a half size up and would definitely say to do the same if you decide to order as they do run slightly small.
The knee-high boots are another story. I think they’re super flattering and I love the squared toe! I think these would look great with long and short dresses – and even shorts, skinny jeans and leggings! I ordered these in my normal size (8.5) and they fit perfect!
What I’m Returning.
There were definitely some wins and losses in this order. Perhaps the most surprising return of all are the zella leggings I ordered. But I think it’s because I ordered the “Studio Lite” version instead of my normal “Live In”. I just didn’t like the material or the way they fit tight on my calves and loose in my waist! Definitely wasn’t expecting that. and didn’t want to be misleading by trying them on and even showing you!
Another item I didn’t show was the Frayed Corduroy Shirt Jacket. I didn’t like it out of the box or on so I didn’t think it was even worth a photo. Here’s the list of what I’m returning:
- Tan Booties
- Tan Knee-High Boots
- Frayed Corduroy Shirt Jacket
- High Waist Studio Lite Pocket 7/8 Leggings
- Rib Stitch Crop Sweater
What I’m Keeping.

What I’m Still Waiting On.
Here are the items I’ve ordered and am still waiting on. I have placed a couple of orders since my original post (as things have come back in stock) so that’s why you don’t see a couple of these up top:
Wrapping up.
And that’s it for now! I’m still waiting on those 4 more items so I’ll update this post as they come in and I’m able to try on! If nothing else I hope this post gives you some fall outfit inspo 🙂
Happy shopping, friends!
