I say something along these lines every month I feel like, but oh my word I can’t believe Fisch is 11 months old. We’re just one short month away from him turning 1.. like… HOW?! I think this may be the last monthly update I do, but I’ll definitely share photos of how we celebrate him and his first birthday! Of course, if you guys ever have questions about what’s going on with Fisch and his schedules, eating habits, etc., be sure to follow along over on my Instagram: @amandafontenotblog and always feel free to reach out!
This month was fairly low key, but we did celebrate his first Thanksgiving and began some new Christmas traditions as a family! He also endured his very first cold/virus and I have to say it really was the saddest thing. Fischer finally started scooting/army crawling/becoming MUCH more mobile this month, which has been so fun to see. He loves to make his way around both the living room and kitchen, pulling things out of the cupboards and rearranging the magazines under the entertainment center. It brings us SO MUCH JOY to watch him discover things and play both by himself and with us and the dogs.
On Thanksgiving, we learned that he LOVES to play in piles of leaves and cannot get enough of stuffing. He’s still not big on protein in the form of meat – unless its taco meat (boy after my own heart) – but loves greek yogurt, scrambled eggs and peanut butter toast!
We started a new Christmas tradition where we plan to take Fisch to cut down his own Christmas tree (that will go in his room) for as long as he wants to do it. I’m so excited about this one. I came really close to giving in to a fake tree for the family room this year, but after having another real one I just can’t get over how good it smells! I’ve also just really enjoyed the hunt of finding the perfect Christmas tree. It has always just marked the start of Christmas and officially gets me in the holiday spirit.
Fisch has completely cut out all purees and is slowly but surely weaning his way off breastfeeding. We plan to be completely done nursing around New Year’s since I’ll be going away for a bachelorette party and he’ll be just 2 weeks shy of one year old.
fischer’s christmas.
Since Christmas is right around the corner, I thought I’d share what Fischer is getting for Christmas in case you still need gift ideas for your little one! We tried not to go too crazy since 1) he’s a baby and literally loves playing with the sticks the dogs track in from the yard sometimes more than his actual toys 2) will grow out of things quickly and 3)his birthday is just 3 weeks after Christmas (LOL). Also, we really want him to learn that Christmas isn’t just about receiving things –even at a young age – but I must say it’s so hard not to buy him ALL the things with the sheer anticipation of his face and fascination.
I was actually talking with a friend this past weekend, who has kids a lot older than Fischer, but she gave such good advice for Christmas and gift-giving for your kids. She suggested doing just four gifts one in each category: “something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read.” I thought that was SO cool and would be a great way to practice a little self control on all accounts in years to come. So, we’ll probably start doing that next year!
stocking:
Bath toys were the main focus for his stocking because his collection was sorely lacking and he loves bath time!
presents:
I have to admit, this wagon is sort of a present for us too. But we thought he’d have so much fun riding around the block in it, sitting in it during outings like going to the food trucks and I also think it’ll be fun to take with us to things like pumpkin and apple picking – and even trick-or-treating next fall. The V-Tech cube is something his gal pal Eloise has (there’s a pink girly version if you’re interested!) and it blows me away how much he LOVES playing with it when we go to her house. With those two gifts, we thought we were done buying him presents… and then G saw this little soccer/basketball deal and he said he had to have it haha – I think we all know who it’s REALLY for 😉
Despite his first encounter with illness, this month was so so good to us and our little boy. I’m so grateful for him and the joy he brings us each and every day. I’m excited to see what this next month brings –I’ll update you guys on his progress periodically – or maybe I’ll break down and give one more update for 12 months.. we’ll see 🙂 Thanks for following along with our sweet baby F!
