Starting a new monthly post! At the end of each month I’ll recap some of the highlights from the past four(ish) weeks and make a list of a variety of different ‘favorites’. I think this will be such a fun way to commit some fun family memories, accomplishments, highs and lows in a place where we can easily come back and relive them if we choose. Not only that, but my hope for these monthly posts is that they would be fun and useful for you too!
If there’s ever a category of favorites that you’d like to see added here, don’t hesitate to shout it out in a comment at the bottom of this post.
Okay, let’s get started!
Highlights from the Past Month:
First Steps.
The first thing that comes to mind is definitely Fischer starting to walk! Our pediatrician mentioned at his last checkup that they (the doctors) don’t start worrying about walking until babies reach 17 months. But as the days and weeks started to pass with Fischer showing no real interest in walking by himself, my mama heart was getting a little anxious. However at exactly 16 weeks our little guy decided it was time! He started to take some tentative steps to me on Mother’s Day and then 2 days later he was full force doing laps around the kitchen island. We’re so proud of him and its opened up a whole new toddler world that has been both crazy and a whole lot of fun!
Housewarming.
At the beginning of the month, we had FINALLY wrapped up the majority of our house projects – enough so that we were able to have our first dinner party since moving in in February! It brought so much relief and satisfaction to have our close friends here enjoying the house we’ve put so much blood sweat and tears into. We are still far from feeling like the house is ‘finished’ but we’re at the point where we can actually stop, breathe and enjoy our surroundings.
Family Wedding in Louisiana.
We had so much fun attending Garrett’s cousin’s wedding in Louisiana. It was such a sweet trip filled with visiting, Fischer’s first tractor ride, attending our first horse race and of course, witnessing family members exchange vows. Every time we attend a wedding together, it’s like we’re reminded of our vows all over again and it was just such a much needed time to get away and recharge.
GTL.
Anyone used to watch Jersey Shore? I’m almost ashamed to admit that I did but hey – those were my formative years 😉 But towards the end of this month we rejoined our gym and I’ve managed to workout almost every day this week! The T in GTL stands for Tan, which comes in the form of spending time at the gym’s pool with Fischer. What a great way to spend the summer with him, right?! He loves the baby fountain at the pool and telling all the passersby “byyyeee”. L in GTL stands for Laundry and I’ll let that refer to the new house cleaning groove I’ve gotten into. (Posting my June cleaning schedule here tomorrow, so stay tuned!) I just feel so much healthier and organized here at the end of May than I did at the beginning and for my Type-A personality that definitely deserves a highlight mention!
My May Favorites.
Now let’s talk favorites, which will hopefully be fun and helpful for y’all. As I said, if you want me to share a specific category feel free to say just say so!
