a panama city gem.
When you think of Panama City Beach, the first thing that comes to mind may not be a family-friendly vacation. However, that’s exactly what you get at 4114 Jan Cooley Drive – aka, the Sheraton Bay Point Resort. The property is serene, beautiful and contains everything you need for a rejuvenating weekend away.
G and I arrived on Friday and immediately fell in love. This coastal accommodation, which undertook a multi-million dollar renovation this past fall, was gorgeous. From the posh lobby to the courtyard in the back spanning two pools and a bar, to the Nicklaus Design golf course and the boardwalk leading to the Sheraton’s private beach.. it was truly amazing.
day 1: exploration and a sunset.
We stayed in one the the King Rooms, which had a beautiful view from our private balcony, and were so impressed by the quality of the details in the room.
After checking in and getting cleaned up, G and I took a walk around the property, eventually wandering down the tranquil boardwalk that leads to one of the property’s restaurants: Pelican’s. If you keep going past the restaurant there’s a dock for boat’s owned by guests and visitors alike. Beyond that to the left is where the private beach is located, which contains chairs, paddle boards and other equipment for rent and a selection of beverages for purchase.
We ate dinner at Pelican’s the first night – enjoying sweet crab claws and refreshing drinks on the dock while the sun went down.
day 2: vitamin d and a steak.
Our second day at the Sheraton Bay Point was spent at the pool, where we lounged with delicious drinks from Flip Flop’s (the outdoor bar and restaurant located just steps away), filled our bellies with fruit and burgers and soaked up some sun. G fell asleep poolside while I caught up on some of my favorite magazines and planned nursery decor. 🙂
Saturday night’s dinner was enjoyed at the Bay Point’s beautiful Tide’s Restaurant where we ordered THE most mouth watering steaks and a delicious lobster bisque to share. Afterwards we indulged in a sinful double chocolate cake that’s making my mouth water just thinking of it.
day 3: pampering and a farewell.
If I had to pick, I’d say Sunday was my favorite. G and I ordered room service and relaxed while watching re-runs of Shark Week. He then went off to the resort’s tennis courts to hit some balls with the onsite instructor while I headed to the spa for a facial and some time at the pool. My facial was AMAZING and so relaxing.. and if I wasn’t pregnant I probably would have spent an hour or so in the spa’s sauna or indoor hot tub. It was so quiet and peaceful – and the aromatherapy showers were the bomb!
Before we headed out, G and I took a quick ride around the property on the complimentary cruisers at the front of the resort. How cute are they?!
I just want to thank the attentive and friendly staff at the Sheraton Bay Point Resort for taking such good care of us last weekend. We truly had the best time! If you find yourself thinking about a beachfront getaway soon – don’t forget about this Panama City gem!
Our summer has been filled thus far with sweet memory-making and full and thankful hearts.
