LOFT fall fashion try-on.

Fall

FYI – the items in this post are currently 40% off from now (10/17) through Saturday (10/19)!!

Hello, friends! Today’s post is an at-home try-on featuring fall style items from one of my favorite retailers: LOFT! This store is PERFECT for those of you who may be in the workforce or simply like that laid back, casual, yet sophisticated look. They’ve been running some really great sales lately, so I thought I’d order a few things and see how I liked them. I’ll share everything I tried on and then tell you what I ended up keeping for myself – I don’t think you’ll be very surprised with my choices.. 😉

We’ll start with an outfit I thought would be great for the office, but first – here’s a video so you can see some of the outfit options in action!

Office Attire

The truth is, so many of these pieces can be worn to the office. It’s hard to tell, but even the leggings you’ll see below are ponte – which means they’re hardy and thick enough to get away with flats or heels and a nice blouse! This outfit, however, is not controversial at all (unless covering your shoulders is a concern), but I know that’s not a big deal in most places these days.

I love that this leopard print skirt is thick, yet slightly stretchy and easy to move around in. It’s the perfect length in my opinion and would even look great with a black cardigan or blazer if you want to dress it up a bit! I paired it with this sleeveless back mock turtleneck top which was great in and of itself. It looks good with jeans, too, as you’ll see when you scroll a little further down.

Fall Weather Basics

I just want to take a moment to say that LOFT pieces are always so high quality. I’ve yet to find anything that isn’t extremely well made and their basics are so soft! I ordered this dolman sleeve basic top in two colors to try on and was blown away at how GOOD the material felt! When it came to deciding what to keep and what to send back, I knew I HAD to keep one of them!

Here is one of those tops styled OVER a pajama top!

This striped shirttail top is super comfortable, the perfect colors for Fall and a great length to wear with leggings and boots because it’s pretty munch tunic length (covers your booty)! I loved it paired with both black leggings and blue jeans!

Let’s talk about this little cream colored kimono. I was in love. The fit was perfect for layering over just about everything and the color is so versatile. As you can see from the video – I used it with almost every look I tried on – including a pajama set!

Okay, we can’t skim over these button-fly jeans. Aren’t they so cute?! The wash is a medium-dark color and I absolutely love them. The only reason I didn’t keep them is I already have a similar pair and these actually fit me a little bit big (if you’re between sizes I’d recommend sizing down in these).

Last piece I’ll mention is this mix media short sleeve sweater top. LOFT has carried some version of this top in different sleeve lengths for what I dare say is years now and I’ve ALWAYS loved them. The prints they use for the backing are always so pretty, but when I saw this blue striped one, I knew I couldn’t put off trying one on any longer. This top seriously just spoke to me and the love affair didn’t end when putting it on. It’s comfortable and can be worn with so many things!

Poncho Sweater + Ponte Leggings

If you’re not very familiar with LOFT, you should just know that anything by their featured brand ‘Lou + Grey’ is going to be SO SOFT and SO COMFORTABLE. This camel colored poncho sweater was definitely no exception. I loved the way it looked paired with these black ponte leggings and a pair of black riding boots (an old pair I’ve had forever – similar here). As for these leggings, like I said – they’re nice and thick so they’d be considered appropriate just about anywhere. However, they’re not so thick as in hot or uncomfortable! They’re actually just the opposite. The material is very breathable and has a good about of stretch and give. Plus, they’re high waisted and do a great job of holding you in (which I love)!

The pieces I kept

Alright, let’s talk about the pieces I ended up keeping – and why. To be honest with you, it was VERY hard to choose anything to go back, but in the end, I kept 5 out of the 12 things I tried on.

Pajama Set + Slippers

I know, I know – you’re probably not surprised. But this pajama set is 1. BEAUTIFUL and 2. so comfortable and timeless. I ordered it to try with these fuzzy, soft pink slippers too, which I also kept! What really pushed me over the edge to keep this set was the fact that I felt like I could even wear this pajama top with day time clothes. See what I mean:

I mean.. c’mon.. pajamas that pull double duty?? I couldn’t send them back! Here’s a photo with them as… actual pajamas + slippers! I purchase a pair of slippers (or ask for them on my Christmas list) every year and these DID NOT disappoint. You should feel how soft and cushioned they are (also come in gray)!

Basics

Now that summer’s over, it’s about time I phase out the basic crewneck short sleeve tops I’ve been wearing nonstop and start adding in cool/cold weather appropriate basics. That’s why I went ahead and kept this stripe top and gray dolman sleeve top. As I said above, I love how versatile they both are – and how SOFT!

Mixed Media Top

You could probably tell by the way I was raving about this top fitting ‘my style’ that it was going to be a keeper.. and it definitely was! I plan to wear it with blue jeans and riding boots and maybe even white denim with booties! You’ll see a lot of this one on me this fall – that’s for sure.

Alright my friends, I think that’s a wrap. What did y’all think of this fall try-on? Which look/piece was your favorite?!

I mean.. I get it, to be honest.. I can only ho I mean..

I get it, to be honest..

I can only hope that people might look at my profile before/after commenting and realize this ain’t my first rodeo🤠

For the first project: we needed more storage. Period.

And the second: the paint was abnormally thick and wasn’t splattering. Believe me I DID test/check. I covered and protected the things I knew I couldn’t easily wipe clean (rug/play couch/etc) - it all turned out FINE)🫶🏼

I also feel like people saw the Timelapse’s and assumed I was going super fast and just splattering paint everywhere🤣 In reality I was going super slow!!!🤪

Little disclaimer - I’ve only ever used traditional wallpaper, but have yet to have any issues.. especially with these tips!👇🏼

3 Tips for wallpaper success:

1️⃣. Start in the most inconspicuous corner of the room. Your wallpaper has to end somewhere and it’s not necessarily going to line up with the connecting paper when it does. Not a big deal, just start in a corner that isn’t front and center when you walk in the room!

2️⃣. Use a laser level to ensure your first piece of wallpaper is hung perfectly straight. The first piece is the most important. It will affect the way the rest of the strips are hung. So make it easier on yourself and either draw a plumb line or use a laser level to successfully hang the first piece!

3️⃣. Use a thick nap roller to apply a very thick layer of glue to the wall. The more the merrier. This makes it super easy to move the wallpaper around on the wall while you’re trying to make sure it’s straight and in line with the previous piece’s pattern.

I will never understand people’s blatant disrega I will never understand people’s blatant disregard for common courtesy and decorum on the internet🫠 I wish I could say the criticism on my recent post didn’t bother me, but I’m only human and my knee jerk reaction was to feel a little down and even defensive.😅

Here’s the thing though, it’s true what they say- “All publicity is good publicity.” And if I have to withstand 100 harsh comments so that the algorithm will put my posts in front of 10 of my ‘people’ then it’s all worth it. So, thank you, Karens of the internet, for helping me to grow my account😘 #silverlining #bekind #beigeinterior #ilovebeige

I love how these cute little cabinet feet add so much character and personality to our kitchen peninsula. The best part? They were fairly simple to make and attach. So I thought I’d make this little guide in case you wanted to make them too!

Tools and supplies you’ll need for this project:
• .75 in thick plywood
• jigsaw
• wood glue
• clamps
• electric sander
• paint that’s been color matched to your cabinets
• brad nailer + nails

Send this to a friend and let me know if you have any questions.. I’m here to help!🤗

It just blends🤌🏻 This was the first time I It just blends🤌🏻

This was the first time I painted a ceiling anything other than white and I think I’m pretty much obsessed.

This ceiling needed to be painted anyway. After the addition of the wall and remodel of the bookcase and all.. but when it came down to it, it just didn’t seem right to give it a fresh coat of white. I love the way your eye just keeps going across the room and is free to focus on the more important elements like the beautiful wallpaper, deep colors and different textures🤎

What’s your take?

The 10 big projects we accomplished during our fir The 10 big projects we accomplished during our first year in our new (old) home 🛠️

Share this with someone who loves a good before and after🤗

1. WALL REMOVAL #1: Removed a non-structural wall that separated the living room and kitchen. It gave us a solid 4 more feet of usable space in our small living room and made a HUGE difference in the look and feel of this home🤩

2. CLOFFICE. My husband, who works from home, had a designated 3rd floor in our previous home and literally NOWHERE to call his own in this one - except for a corner of our room. Luckily we were able to swap an extra closet from a guest room to ours that was big enough for an office!

3. VENETIAN PLASTER WALL & MANTLE: The previous mantle was way too high and the brick wall made it impossible to hang our TV and hide its cord.. So I used Venetian Plaster to cover the brick and built a custom stone veneer mantle🔥

4. WALL & DOOR: Building a wall between these two living spaces downstairs made it so much more practical for the way our family wanted to utilize the space. Now our kids have a functional playroom where they can play, be loud and store aaalll the toys… and we can hear ourselves think😉

5. STORAGE BANQUETTE: I built a corner banquet that opens up for storage and serves as seating for games, coloring, crafting, etc.!🎉

6. DROPZONE: We desperately needed someplace to store shoes, backpacks, bags and jackets by the garage door where we come in and out of the house. Thankfully, there was a closet here that I could open up and turn into a little mudroom area🙌🏻

7. LAUNDRY ROOM GLOW-UP: The previous laundry room felt extremely makeshift and dysfunctional. It had no room to fold clothes, pipes were sticking out of the wall and it originally had ugly lenoleum flooring. It’s still small and cramped but makes MUCH more sense🫶🏼

8. BUTLERS PANTRY: I’ve always dreamt of having a butlers pantry and was beyond excited when I realized it would be doable here!

9. DISGUISED THE FRIDGE: We moved the fridge into the closet under the stairs to make more room for a large range and cabinets.

10. REMOVED STRUCTURAL WALL: I mean🤯
