Do you ever think about the fact that certain foods, namely fruits and vegetables, are in season at different times of the year? Being in season means these items can be purchased at a lower cost than usual – or at all – since some aren’t even available during their off season. It also means they can be purchased and consumed sustainably which is all-around good economically, environmentally and financially! So, what’s in season during the fall?

15 Recipes to Make This Fall | Lifestyle | Amanda Fontenot Blog

Fall Recipes + Meal Ideas

I’ve broken these up by category to make them easier to find/sift through. Of course, the appetizer/dinner category lines are a little blurred as some items can be a side or a main dish – depending on your mood or preference. For example, a charcuterie board would be an impressive appetizer for a gathering, or a fun dinner for two – hello date night!

Breakfast

Pumpkin French Toast
I’m excited about this recipe. I think it’ll be a great one to try on an upcoming Saturday morning and I expect Fischer will love it!

Appetizers + Sides

Loaded Cauliflower Broccoli Casserole
I’ll be honest, I’m usually not a casserole person, but this sounded like such a delicious side dish. Let’s face it – anything with the word ‘loaded’ in the description is bound to be delicious!

Harvest Vegetable Hash
I’ve had this on my ‘to try’ list for what seems like ages. I think it’ll make a great Fall side dish or even a make ahead lunch!

Dinner

Chicken Noodle Soup
I found Natasha’s soup recipe last year around this time and had to have made it 10 times before the cold weather turned to Spring! This recipe is so easy and SO delicious – the perfect dinner or weekend lunch on a chilly day!

Butternut Squash Mac + Cheese
This is one of those recipes that could be made as a standalone meal or side. It’s also one that I’m hoping will be kid-friendly because a healthy mac + cheese recipe that Fischer will actually eat is just what this mama has always wanted lol!

Fall Charcuterie Board
SUPER excited to try Megan’s tips for making a harvest charcuterie board. We’re huge fans of cheese boards here at our house and this one that she made looks divine!

Pumpkin Baked Ziti with Sausage
This recipe by Vodka and Biscuits totally caught my eye as I was scanning Pinterest for recipes to try. I love the idea of hearty, earthy sage sausage paired with that sweet pumpkin flavor!

Zuppa Toscana Soup
One of my ALL TIME favorite recipes to make when the temps finally drop here in Atlanta. I’ve always loved the restaurant version of this soup and when I found this homemade soup recipe by Damn Delicious (whom I now regularly turn to for dinner recipes!), I fell in love – and G did too! It’s so good!

Epic Beef + Mushroom Pie
Who doesn’t love a hearty beef dinner on a crisp fall night? I plan to serve this with a yummy glass of red wine and a heaping serving of buttery mashed potatoes! Mmmmm – comfort food at its finest.

Broccoli Cheese Soup
This recipe promises to be a delicious at-home version of the Panera soup favorite! I can’t wait to try it.

Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Sweet Potatoes
We made these about a month ago as I was desperately searching for a husband-approved sweet potato dinner recipe. I made these and G fell in love! Definitely a great, semi-healthy dinner option!

Desserts

French Pear Tart
What’s a collection of fall recipes without a few yummy warm desserts? Fall always gets me in the baking mood and I thought this tart recipe would be the perfect one to try.

Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal Crumble
Nothing says fall to me in terms of dessert more than a cobbler or crisp (crumble). This one looks and sounds divine and was highly rated on Pinterest! I plan to serve some with vanilla ice cream for a delicious post- dinner treat.

Drinks

Sparkling Honey Fig Cocktail
Now, tell me this doesn’t look (and sound) so appealing?! I love the colors of the drink and that sprig of thyme as garnish – sounds like a drink right up my ally! I thought it would be perfect to try as a Saturday treat or, possibly, as a pairing with that harvest charcuterie board on this list!

Hot Apple Cider
This is actually one recipe that I featured here on the blog last Fall season. It’s a rendition of my good friend, Aubrey’s recipe that she’s made for us several times now. We like to spike ours with a little bit of bourbon if that’s your thing! 😉

And there you have it! Do any of these stick out to you as something you’d like to try? If you make anything from this list, be sure to take a photo and tag me over on Instagram: @amandafontenotblog – I’d love to see what you make!
