our top baby names.

It’s gender reveal week! We find out what we’re having Thursday afternoon and I’ll probably share with you all on Friday (maybe my email subscribers will know the day of *wink*)! In honor of this big week, I’ll be sharing two baby-related posts. First, our top 5 girls and boys names and second,  a boy and girl nursery design to help get your creative juices flowing if you’re designing a nursery also!

For now, let’s start with names. Now, we probably will keep our name choice to ourselves until after baby is born – the way we did with Fischer – because people can just be weird about names. In the meantime, though, at least you’ll have an idea and can start making guesses and speculations 😉 When picking names, we try to go for ones we don’t really hear too often – at least around us – and we tend to choose ones with a bit of a southern flair. So, here we go.

Our Top 5 Girl Names

Cotton Romper - Dark yellow/flowers - Kids | H&M US

I have to tell you, G has had a girl name picked out since before we even started thinking too much about kids! It’s currently the one at the top of our list if Baby F is a girl – can you guess which one? Here are the choices:

  • Charlotte “Charlie”
  • Campbell
  • Olivia
  • Adelaide “Addie”
  • Sawyer

Out Top 5 Boy Names

Cotton Romper - Lt. khaki green/brown striped - Kids | H&M US

Our boy name ideas haven’t changed much from when we were choosing one for Fischer, so this list was pretty easy to narrow down!

  • Ben
  • Graham
  • Finn
  • Henry
  • Beckham

What do you all think? Which is your favorite choice for each?!

What to Consider When Choosing a Name

When it came to coming up with name ideas for Baby F #2, there are a few things we kept in mind.

  • How the name sounds with Fontenot
  • How common is the name
  • What the initials would be
  • Family names – in first or middle name
  • How it sounds alongside Fischer’s name
  • Possible nicknames we – or other people – might call them

As a little something extra, I thought I’d also throw some names out there that I personally love, but that didn’t make it on our lists for one reason or another.

  • Rowan
  • Wells
  • Briggs
  • Noah
  • Beau
  • Emma
  • Kate
  • Grace
  • Madeline

What are some of your favorite names?!
