Hello friends! So many of you have been asking for nursery design ideas and progress updates, so let’s start here! Today, I’m sharing three different design ideas: a girl nursery, boy nursery and a pretty gender neutral nursery design. Since Baby F is a boy, we’re currently trying to decide between the green and blue designs for our own purposes – G’s fav is the green but I’m still torn! Maybe you could vote in the comments to help us lean one way or another 😉

There are a few things we’re moving from Fischer’s current nursery into the new one. We plan to have him in a regular bed (our spare full from our second guest room) by the time the baby gets here, so we’ll use his current crib for the new baby. We’ll also go ahead and move the rocker to the new nursery and probably even the dresser. Fischer’s room will be a little more cramped with a bed in there, so I’m thinking he may need a smaller dresser – but we’ll see!

Baby Girl Nursery Design

My inspiration for this nursery came from this rug that I found early on. It was everything I was hoping for in a future girl nursery: floral and feminine without being too over the top! I love that it has blues and greens mixed in. I was originally planning to pull out the green colors in the rug for accents in the room, but decided I liked the irony of blue accents in a girl room even better.

Some of you may remember the set of prints I have placed over the crib in this design. They’re the ones I found on sale at Target a while back! I was originally planning on putting them up in our living area, but then I realized they go so well with the rug so I had been holding on to them in case baby was a girl!

For other decor pieces, I thought this blue lamp would go well atop the dresser and these affordable blackout blue velvet curtains offer texture and color to the walls! I also love this round wooden mirror and think it’s the perfect statement piece for above the changing table.

And that’s it for the girl nursery! I have to say, I LOVE the way this design turned out and will be referencing it again one day if we happen to get pregnant with a little girl 😉 What do you guys think of it?!

Gender Neutral Nursery Design

When I was first dreaming up nursery ideas, my initial thought was to make it gender neutral. I loved the idea of using sage greens and incorporating fresh, botanical prints in the decor. Since Baby F is a boy, we’re currently deciding between this design and the next. This one gets G’s vote – what do you think?!

I found the perfect watercolor plant prints here and then the rest of the design just came together. I found a similar but different (and more affordable) statement mirror and LOVE the way this rattan lamp looks atop the dresser. This nursery design appeals to me not only because of the serene neutral colors, but also the textures. I really like the texture this rug adds and the way this accent pillow ties into everything as well.

Boy Nursery Design

In all honesty, there’s nothing about this blue boy nursery that couldn’t be made into a girl nursery as well – but since blue usually means boy to people that’s what I’m calling it. This design, like my girl nursery design, stemmed from the rug. I found this blue textured rug and couldn’t help but design a nursery around it. It’s technically an indoor/outdoor rug, so it would hold up well to traffic and I just thought it was so cute for a nursery!

I also really like this set of prints that I found for this design. They particularly appeal to me because of the blue rainbow print. Since this baby will be our rainbow baby, there’s just something special about incorporating this piece of art in the design.

Other than the rug and prints, everything else is pretty much borrowed from either of the previous nursery designs. I think I also really like this nursery plan because I fell in love with these blue velvet curtains!
