We’ve finally started updating the floors in our home and I can’t tell you how excited I am about it! The first room we’ve started with is the dining room, but we’ll soon be moving on to the rest of our home. It will definitely be a large project, but after the amazing experience we’ve had so far, I feel really good about getting it done.
Why we chose Floor&Decor.
When G and I started getting serious about looking for flooring, we had a strict budget and a specific idea of the type and shade of flooring that we wanted. We knew we wanted Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) because we wanted to be able to install it throughout our entire home for a uniform look – including high traffic and water-prone areas like the kitchen, powder room and entryway. I also knew we wanted a medium brown color – something much cooler in tone than what we currently have and would also go well with our current aesthetic.
We quickly landed on Floor&Décor because of their wide variety, fair pricing and how easy they make it to find exactly what you want. The ‘Visualize it’ feature on their website really helped to give me an idea of which floors would look best in our home. They also have free design services with designers who can help with any size project whether you have questions about styling and selection or just want to know more about the installation process.
We actually used F&D for our guest bathroom remodel too! We found the most perfect marble tile for the guest shower at an amazing price. I also love that they have everything you might need for every aspect of your project as well. Everything from grout to transition pieces, tools, supplies and more. It’s definitely a one-stop shop and I know we’ll be using them for years to come!
Our New Floors.
I ordered a couple different samples before finally settling on this Satchel Farm Rigid Core LVP with a foam back. I have to tell you, it’s even better in person than I could’ve hoped for! It comes with a foam backing, which makes for a quieter step and feels so good under foot. I also love the realistic wood gran and the fact that it’s not too slick or glossy.
Some things to note about this floor:
- Highly durable and waterproof
- Can be installed right away – no need for acclimation
- Can be installed on, above and below grade level which means it’s perfect for basements!
- Can be installed over most existing hard-surface flooring, including slightly irregular subflooring.
Installation.
In terms of installation, you guys, I was so impressed at how quick and easy this was to put down. I did most of the room by myself and actually found it really enjoyable – not to mention satisfying! I’ll admit, I was a little nervous and apprehensive about flooring replacement since it’s something I have never done before. However, this project was a cinch and is totally DIY friendly.
Be sure to check back soon! We’ll be wrapping up the rest of the dining room project and start updating the floors in more rooms! If you’d like to see the ‘before’ of this room, along with what else is planned for it, click here!
