fischer’s nursery.

I DID IT, you guys!! I Finally got a nursery reveal post together! I’ve seriously had this post on my editorial calendar for MONTHS and it just keeps getting pushed back… and back. To be honest, my editorial calendar has been more of a list of things that I make to ignore rather than things I actually accomplish and post *facepalm*, but such is the life of a new mom I guess. I’ll tell you what, momin’ ain’t for the faint of heart and I’ve been learning so much lately – mainly that it’s OKAY if life doesn’t go exactly according to plan. So, I apologize for the sporadic posting, but I hope you’ll understand that’s just the season I’m in right now!

I have a post planned for next weekend for Fischer’s 3 month update, items we’re loving and how his schedule is going – so I’ll dive more into this then. For now, let’s talk nursery details!

neutral nautical.

Ever since I found out I was pregnant – before we knew the gender – I’ve known that I wanted a peaceful, serene, fairly neutral nursery. I went back and forth on the theme. I’ve always loved a nautical theme, so it was between that and a dessert/cactus/succulent type feel for the nursery. Since we had announced our pregnancy to the world during our trip to Zion National Park in Utah, the dessert really held a special place in our heart. It wasn’t until I found (and fell in love with) this crib bedding that I decided that nautical was the way to go. I love the way the room turned out. It’s the perfect balance of creams, blues, grays and natural wood accents. Take a look and let me know what you think in the comments below!

I’ve known I wanted to hang this sign above our baby’s crib long before we got pregnant. I love everything about it – from the fun hand lettering to the  precious message it conveys.

His pillows were a gift made by his Mimi (G’s mom) and his mobile is from Etsy!

I absolutely love his little reading/rocking corner. Before he was born, I would just go hang out in his room to rock and work on my computer. The space is so comfortable and peaceful and I love how it turned out. The rocking chair was a sweet gift from my parents and I LOVE IT. I fell in love with the rocking chairs with rails as soon as I saw them. They’re slightly more work to move but not much, and I just adore how they look. I picked up this marble top side table to keep his noise maker on and it’s the perfect place to set my cup of coffee in the morning during his first feeding!

The closet was an easy decision for me. I’d seen examples all over Pinterest of placing this bookshelf in there for added storage and I love how ours turned out. In the bottom baskets I keep clothes that he’s not ready for, miscellaneous toys, diaper bag refills and other knick knacks. It’s also nice to have a place to put his shoes and the baby scale.

I just love how it turned out. The collage is framed Shel Silverstein poems, which were my FAVORITE growing up. We used this dresser and I love how much storage it has underneath. It’s also a great piece that can stay with him throughout the years! Also, I highly recommend this wipes warmer. Especially since he was born in the winter, I feel like it saved him a lot of uncomfortable diaper changes!

This next area was one that came together really well, too. I used these crown molding shelves as ledges that are perfect to hold frames and books. The toy box underneath was a basket that I found at TJ Maxx!

Last, but not least, we love his labradoodle play mat. As you may know we have a goldendoodle named Gracie whom we couldn’t love more, so when I saw this play mat I knew it had to be included in the nursery 😉 This sign is by the same shop that did the one above his crib and contains a reminder that I hope he takes with him throughout his life.

Everywhere you turn in his nursery there’s something special. Whether it be a saying, a prayer card, a sign or a poem. His room is filled with functionality, nostalgia and most of all: love. That’s something I’m really proud of.
