I have several closets around our home that I’m making it my mission to tackle this month. As I do, I thought it would be fun to bring y’all along and share how I’m organizing each one! I think organizing is all about making the best use out of the space you have so that everything is easy to find and not cluttered. That’s pretty much going to be my mantra as I take on these projects this month.
This entryway closet sits right next to our front door and had become sort of a catchall for too many pairs of shoes, coats that aren’t relevant for this time of year and just a bunch of random stuff that didn’t need to be there. Now, it houses several pairs of shoes for both G and I, all three of our rain jackets, my diaper bag, diaper bag refills and more. Organizing this closet was really simple and straightforward since its such a small space, but it just goes to show how a little can go a long way when it comes to organization.
The first thing I did was add some wall hooks. This particular one used to be behind the door in our previous master bedroom, but since it no longer goes with our decor I thought it would be perfect to use in this closet. It’s perfect for holding bags, Fischer’s jacket, hats and later in the year – scarves. Having somewhere to hang things that doesn’t close off the closet really helps to open up the space and make great use of the walls.
Next, I added some shoe storage by way of this hanging compartment. It holds a ton of shoes – especially if you put flip flops and sandals together – and I love how it gets things up off the floor. These stackable shelves also serve a shoe storage, which I love!
Finally, I grabbed two of these wicker baskets for holding the random little things that are useful to have near the front door. Things we may need for the gym (goggles, floaties, hand towels, etc.), extra antibacterial wipes and regular wipes for my diaper bag, Fischer’s small shoes that would otherwise get lost, etc. Baskets are so great for storing things you don’t necessarily want to see.
And that’s it! The other three areas I’ll be tackling this month are our pantry, the tall cabinet in our bathroom and our upstairs linen closet – so stay tuned!
