Can you believe it’s already May?! That means it’s already been a full year since I started this little cleaning calendar journey of mine! (to read my original post, click here) Since then, the general idea of these cleaning calendars has stayed the same. However, I’ve changed up a few things here and there each month to truly find a routine that I love and feel like I can keep up with.
This past year I’ve learned a lot about my cleaning style and preferences. But, I’m still in the process of finding something that really works on a daily basis. To be honest – the combination of everyday life and human nature will probably keep me trying new things in terms of a cleaning schedule. But that’s ok! I fully recommend switching things up as often as you need to in order to encourage yourself to keep cleaning!
This month’s cleaning schedule.

Lately, we’ve been keeping busy with different home projects. Between that and my pregnancy, it’s given me a little less time and energy to put toward cleaning every day. So, this month I’m trying some things to help me stay productive. Let’s talk about the changes.
A category a day.
I’m revisiting Clean Mama’s every day cleaning schedule with a few slight modifications. Her Monday through Friday schedule goes like this: Bathrooms, Dusting, Vacuum, Floor Wash, Catch-All (or Catch-Up) Day. However, to make things a little more manageable for our household – and to address a space I find important to clean well on a weekly basis – I’ve adapted her schedule to suit me. It goes like this:
Monday: Bathrooms
Tuesday: Upstairs Dusting
Wednesday: Downstairs Dusting
Thursday: Floors (vacuum and mop – I have this that does both at once)
Friday: Kitchen – I like to spend a day focusing on cleaning the kitchen since we use it often and it’s in need of some TLC by the end of the week!
In lieu of a dedicated ‘Catch All Day’, I’ve decided to just be ok with skipping a day’s tasks if need be, OR to dedicate some time during the weekend to do things I may not have gotten to during the week. On weekend’s I have G to help out with Fischer so catching up is a lot easier.
Other changes.
The other thing I’m changing on this month’s cleaning calendar has to do with the cleaning card system I learned from A Bowl Full of Lemons. I really like the idea of spending extra time and attention to different areas of the house throughout the month. For a while, I was focusing on a specific room twice a week – on top of my everyday cleaning routine and, to be honest, I was rarely getting it all done.
So, this month I’m trying something slightly different. Since I’m going back to lightening my dusting load – and splitting it up between our upstairs and downstairs on different days), I’m planning to deep clean a room on either Tuesday or Wednesday of the week. Since much of deep cleaning a room involves dusting/wiping things down thoroughly, I thought this was smart. The other deep cleaning day will take place on Sundays. Sundays are a more laid back day here at our house and I’m usually in the mood to clean since I like to start a new week with a clean house. So I thought this was the perfect time to knock out a deep cleaning card. Make sense? I think so!
Daily cleaning tasks.
Other than that, my daily and weekend cleaning tasks are pretty much staying the same for this cleaning calendar! I did switch my cleaning/purging of the fridge to Friday since I’m already cleaning the kitchen on that day anyway. Because of that, I went ahead and switched my grocery shopping/food prep day from Sunday to Saturday too, which only helps to free up my Sunday’s more – which I like!
