It’s demo week for the boys’ bathroom (our upstairs guest bath) and I can’t wait to get everything we’re changing out of there so that I can see it all with a blank slate. Since I’ve never removed tile before – I’m not sure how this is all going to play out (or how long it’s going to take – lol). So, I wanted to post my design plan for the bathroom here so that you guys can begin to picture what it will look like – and maybe help me with a few decisions in the process!

What’s staying, what’s going.

Let’s talk about what in the bathroom is staying and what is going. The shower tile and bathtub itself are going. I’m also removing the shelves above the toilet, towel bars and TP holder. The toilet, existing flooring and vanity are staying. The floors are a pretty marble that the previous owners had newly updated before we bought this house. The vanity is one we put in just after moving in so it’s fairly new as well.. same with the light fixture! The toilet is in fine shape and I think I’ll keep the mirror that’s in there – at least for now.

Design dilemmas.

The biggest dilemma in this room is what, if anything, I want to put on the ceiling and the wall(s) in terms of treatments. I’m thinking of either adding a full height shiplap accent wall behind the toilet/vanity, or doing a 2/3 height treatment around the room. Another idea I’m toying with is adding a plank ceiling with beams. I think doing that would add some really nice warmth and depth to the room which will have a lot of cool tones and whites going on! Maybe I’ll have y’all help me decide between those over on Instagram – stay tuned!

Design board.

Okay, without further ado, let’s take a look at this design board.

I was inspired by these prints I found and decided to make the boys’ bathroom a very loose, muted nautical theme. There’s just something I love about a nautical theme for little boys! Not to mention Fischer loves boats and the beach, so I’m excited to put these two prints above the toilet for them to enjoy.

What do you think of the planked ceiling idea? If you were to do it, would you do white or wood boards??!

So excited to get this project rolling and can’t wait to see it all come together!
